So, to solve my every now and then breaking apart issue I found out that I seriously need to get an idea about these longevity games.

Oh, if you ware wondering how am I so sure about the 15-year thing, see below. I found many high-end sites such as Angi agreeing with me.

My friend John whom I met through another interior project helped me out a lot with my interior saga too. Remembering that I thought why not ask him for advice again?

As said as done. Luckily he was available to help out. He also assured me that with proper care my carpeting should last 5-15 years. For plush –

The HomeInspectionInsider agrees with me when I say – “The lesser the foot traffic is the more longevity plush carpeting gets. As much as raising the bar from 5-15 years to straight 15-20 years without a fuzz!”

However, he suggested I replace it within 15 years regardless. That’s because I have heavy furniture you see. So the areas under the furniture don’t get regular maintenance.

He marked that point out about ground-in dirt, and aging padding quite sweetly in my mind.

“Quite dilly-dallying around and get moving you a lazy drag of a person.😮‍💨”

– I can assure you that’s what his tone was like. Rude isn’t it?😤

It was not so pleasant to imagine really when he said that, if I didn’t do so the sign of wear would be visible per square yard.

He can be harsh sometimes but he’s a good guy. He helped me to understand the thickness facts of plush carpets, based on my needs from time to time.

Kind soul, isn’t he?

Over 10 years old (especially with noticeable wear)

2.Textured Plush10-15 Years
3Frieze Plush5-10 Years

“Please note that the value mentioned above can differ highly based on your usage, carpet material, quality, etc.”

Saxony Plush –

Saxony plush has a very dense and velvety pile. And that is the very reason which is why it has a lifespan of 7-12 years with proper maintenance. This type of plush is more famous for neutral colors rather than vibrant solid colors.

Saxony Plush

Additionally, to make your plush carpet wear well, you need to care for it frequentely. Otherwise, be sure to receive a hard time in response.

You need to schedule a professional cleaning every 12 to 18 months regardless if it’s Saxony or not. It will surely tip in on your magic spell for gaining a longer lifespan of carpeting.

Textured Plush –

Textured plush, with its subtle patterns and softer feel, can last 10-15 years when well cared for, easy. Many manufacturers even claim that –

“These floorings are made in a way to mask or hide foot traffic as much as possible. They may even have a dappled light effect or texture to it.”

Textured Plush

If you stressed about whether your plush carpets gonna show footprints or not. Now you know it. These types of carpets are made of synthetic fibers like nylon and polyester mostly. So surely you’d find them lasting longer than natural fibers.

Other then that it’s discovered many time that these type of carpeting can balance weight evenly more then other type which make them more durable. That’s because their yarns are cut to different lengths and laid at different angles too compared to regular plush.

Frieze Plush –

The story of the sources is, it can cost you $1 to $8 per sq/ft. Depending on the foot traffic your family is gonna reflect upon it, you might get a lifespan of 5-10 years.

Frieze Plush

I read a document on ImproveFloor, and found out that frieze plush’s durability comes from it’s high-twisted yarn pattern. You can see that below as I’ve attached the ss.

This type of plush doesn’t fray over time easily. Because it has quite tightly twisted fibers. This is the very reason why you would find this carpet being resilient.

“You ain’t gonna find them blooming mushroom out underfoot with these frieze carpets.”

I wonder, is textured plush carpet good for stairs? Logical question, since it’s good in so many ways, right? You see, textured may be good for many spaces but it still is plush so not good for stairs considered safety measures.

You can consider it as an updated version of the shag carpet. You know, like those high pile shag from the ‘60s and ‘70s era.

So, far so good. I surely took this information in my note which I’m sharing with you guys. But, I wonder did it really work out for you guys?

What Factors Affect The Longevity Of Plush Carpets?

Plush-type Frieze carpets are constantly reported for excessive wear every now and then. But honestly, you know what, I wouldn’t say the plush texture here is to blame –

“It’s our fault we don’t care and offer proper maintenance but, always hope to get comfortable underfoot feeling. Just because it’s a popular choice of flooring option.”

Improper Care and Maintenance

  • Carpets loses longevity if the carpet padding isn’t right.
  • Not using a vacuum cleaner for regular cleaning or not scheduling professional cleaning once in a while.

Suitability for Foot Traffic

  • Carpet quality matters a lot to withstand foot traffic.
  • These types of carpet fibers build up more dust than usual carpets. Which can affect the soft texture.

Potential for Mold and Mildew & Carpet Padding

  • The high-pile height piles up pet hair which then causes mold and mildew. That surely effects the longevity from inside.
  • Synthetic fibers are more likely to build up stubborn stains. Which surely reeks🤢
